Students are placed with participating employers for work terms during which they may earn often up to 12 wonk credits per semester in wing to acquiring on-site experience. While internships may be on-campus or off-campus experiences, they are often characterized by an self-sustaining diamond and the integration of classroom work with practical experiences. Every internship should include some critical, reflective component. An internship is designed to introduce the student to the opportunities, duties, and responsibilities of personal career objectives through an wits collaboratively planned by the student, wonk department, the employer, and the Internship Coordinator. Thus, the student not only is made enlightened of the potential of a chosen career, but moreover becomes increasingly undeniably sensitive to the value of, and the necessity for, remaining wonk studies. Internship sites can be found locally, nationally, and internationally. While all internships siphon wonk credits, some internships moreover provide financial remuneration. The Office of Career Services The Office of Career Services assists students with all aspects of career planning including choosing a major/career, self-assessment, exploring career-related interests, developing constructive internship and job searching strategies, applying to graduate school or waffly careers.
